How inspiring is this lovely little summer wedding Lilse designed at a family friend's home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland? Congratulations to the happy couple (who met in middle school!) and may they only have fond memories of the hurricane storm that barreled through their dance party! Thank you to The Knot for featuring it in their 2016 issue!
"I loved watching the guests arrive and the ceremony begin from inside the dining room of the house. It was like watching a movie we'd spent a year writing, directing, and praying would unfold as we'd imagined. I'd never planned for that moment of anticipation and it was a great surprise!" -Lilse
"Growing up, I loved collecting pieces of chinoiserie china that washed up on the beach in front of my grandparents' house," Lilse says of the inspiration behind their blue and white color scheme. Pink peonies and cherry blossoms decorated the waterfront space, along with sandalwood fans and a small bar for guests-perfect for early arrivals to grab a drink prior to the start of the ceremony."
"Conor and I always loved hanging out on the dock together at my grandparents' house on the shore, so we were both excited when you suggested that we take some of our photos together on the dock." -Lilse
"After spending the day preparing the tent and getting pretty for the wedding, I was a little nervous for all of our guests to arrive. A moment after this photo was taken, though, I found my Dad and all of the groomsmen at the bottom of the staircase cheering me on. After that I did not stop smiling all night!" -Lilse on the image below
"I'm so happy you captured this moment of my grandmother and I hugging on the dance floor. It illustrates perfectly how much fun everyone had at the reception. From teenagers to grandparents, we were all tearing up the dance floor!" -Lilse
During the reception, a heavy storm rolled in, leaving Lilse, Conor and their guests to celebrate in the rain. "Our bartenders left when the storm hit, so the groomsmen hopped behind the bar and started handing guests bottles of alcohol," Lilse recalls. "The dance floor was filled with rain-soaked guests, and the band kept on playing!"

I'm so thrilled to have two special weddings in the most recent issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.
Christopher and Rick, who are the owners of Amaryllis, were married last fall in the oldest church in Maryland and celebrated with family and friends on their farm.
Anjana and Trent were married earlier this spring at the Long View Gallery, where Sidra Forman
and Arney Walker of Pineapple Productions
dreamed up a modern, funky, elegant ceremony and party.
Congratulations to both my couples!
